To start filling by mail, you'll need a new 90 day prescription. You can either:

  • Ask your doctor to send a prescription to CVS Caremark® Mail Service Pharmacy or,
  • Sign in to request a new prescription and CVS Caremark will contact your doctor to get approval.

Rx Delivery by Mail questions

To start filling by mail, you’ll need a new 90 day prescription. You can either:

  • Ask your doctor to send an electronic prescription to CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy. This is the easiest way to get started.

            OR

CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will contact your prescriber to request a new 90-day prescription. Please make sure your prescriber knows you want to use CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy, so your prescription is processed quickly. Once CVS Caremark® Mail Service Pharmacy receives the new prescription, it typically takes 7-10 days for processing and shipping.

Note: You cannot access Start Rx with CVS Caremark Mail through the mobile application.

If you’d rather fill with another mail pharmacy within your pharmacy network, call your prescriber and ask them to send a prescription to your preferred pharmacy. Sign in to your Caremark.com account to find an in-network pharmacy with the Pharmacy Locator. Price a drug to check your medication cost and coverage.

Remember, because CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy fills prescriptions in 90-day supplies, it can be used for medications you take regularly (like high blood pressure, diabetes, or high cholesterol medications). For short-term medications (like an antibiotic), use a retail pharmacy in your plan’s network. You can find one by using the Pharmacy Locator at Caremark.com.

When you use Start Rx with CVS Caremark Mail, you can choose to have your medication mailed to your home, office or other location.

CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will provide an estimated delivery date after you’ve placed an order. Typically, orders take 7 to 10 business days to process and ship. Sign up for text or email order status updates to easily track your order.

Note: Order processing times may take longer if CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy needs to contact your prescriber.

To set up automatic refills and renewals, sign in to your Caremark.com account and select My Prescriptions under the Prescriptions menu. You’ll need to choose which medications you’d like automatically refilled, set up a payment method and choose how you’d like to receive messages about your refills (text, automated phone call or email). Note: Not all medications may be eligible to enroll in the automatic refill program.

Here's how the service works:

  1. Enroll your eligible prescription(s).
  2. We will alert you at least 10 days before your prescription is refilled, at which time you may move, change or cancel the order.
    1. If your prescription has refills remaining and you do not move, cancel or change the order: We will automatically refill and mail your qualified prescription before you run out of medication.
    2. If your prescription does not have refills remaining and you do not move, cancel or change the order: We will contact your doctor to renew your prescription (that is, obtain a new prescription for the same medication).
    3. If your prescription is about to expire and you do not move, cancel or change the order: We will contact your doctor to renew your prescription (that is, obtain a new prescription for the same medication).

Refill questions

You can use our “Check Drug Cost & Coverage” tool. Fill in the requested information about the medicine and dosage and you'll receive a message telling you if your medicine is covered and what your co-pay amount will be. You’ll also find out if there is a generic or a preferred medicine available that could help you save money.

If you have opted in to receive refill reminders, CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will contact you when your prescription is ready for refill. Simply respond when they contact you and they’ll begin processing your order. If you choose to sign in to your account, you can review your entire list of prescriptions, select the ones that may be ready for refill and follow the prompts to submit your order.

To order a different prescription for Rx Delivery by Mail, you'll need a new 90-day prescription. You can either:

  • Ask your doctor to send an electronic prescription to CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy. This is the easiest way to get started.

CVS Caremark Mail Service Pharmacy will contact your prescriber to request a new 90-day prescription.   • *FOR AUTO REFILLS: Not all mail service prescriptions are eligible for the automatic refill program. Medications ineligible for the program may include, but not be limited to, controlled substances, specialty drugs and prescriptions covered by certain government payors, including Medicare Part B.
